About
Dr. Gowtham N is an Associate Professor in the School of Engineering, RV University, Mysuru. He holds a B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, an M.Tech in Microelectronics and Control Systems, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Power Quality from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi. During his doctoral studies, he served as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Energy Studies, IIT Delhi, where he worked on power quality and grid-related research.
Prior to joining RV University, he served at the Manipal Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, and also worked as a Power Quality Consultant in the Automotive Electronics Division of Robert Bosch, Bengaluru, gaining valuable industrial experience.
His research interests include power electronics applications in power systems, grid integration, power quality, peer-to-peer energy trading, and engineering education. He is currently guiding two research scholars working in the areas of grid integration and peer-to-peer energy trading. He has published extensively in reputed international journals and conferences, including IEEE, Springer, and Elsevier publications. He is the author of the undergraduate textbook Transmission and Distribution and has contributed as a Subject Matter Expert for VTU e-Learning, UpGrad Campus, and TCS-iON.
Dr. Gowtham with an academic experience of 14 years has conducted numerous faculty development programs, workshops, and industry training sessions on power quality, electrical distribution systems, engineering education, and research methodology. In recognition of his contributions to engineering education, he received the prestigious DST-SERB Travel Grant in 2023 to present his work on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) at the Transforming Engineering Education Conference jointly organized by MIT and Harvard University, USA. He further presented his work on innovative engineering pedagogy at the Engineering Education for Sustainable Development (EESD) 2025 Conference at King’s College London, UK.
His academic, research, and industry experiences continue to drive his commitment to excellence in engineering education and research.
